The two most common procedures are Lasik and PRK.
Both procedures use a cool laser beam to reshape the surface of the cornea. With Lasik, a flap of corneal tissue is lifted and the laser works on the tissue under the flap, the the flap is replaced resulting in quick healing, very little pain and very consistent refractive results. PRK works directly on the surface of the cornea and is the preferred procedure for thinner corneas.
There are approximately ten office visits involved in laser surgery procedure.
Nine of these involve pre-op and post-op care and are handled by Dr. Holland at College Optical in Boulder. The surgery is performed n a surgery center in Denver by either Dr. Pardos at Colorado Laser Surgeons or Dr. Oster at The Laser Center.
